According to the Wall Street Journal (March 27, 2019), the exurbs, areas in the farthest out counties in metropolitan areas, are finally growing again. With land values continuing to climb in downtowns and closer-in suburbs, it has become more financially attractive for an increasing number or homebuyers to live in these locations despite the longer commutes. Historically, these areas gain this appeal late in the up-cycle, so this could be a sign that the crest of the market is near.
